“My friends say I’m so lucky.” Our bookkeeper said that to me about 25 years ago. I didn’t quite realize at the time how much of an advantage it was to have a job with a completely flexible schedule. We have had a couple of other bookkeepers since then. Eventually, children grow up, life changes, and it becomes time to go onto a full-time job somewhere else.
We offer great coworkers, a comfortable environment, and the ability to work for a family business with a reputation for quality and integrity. We don’t have positions that pay a fixed amount for the position. Rather, we have people who are paid according to their skills and accomplishments, who do the jobs that suit their talents. One would think that $18-$20 an hour might be right to start, but let’s see what you bring to the table.
We have team members who have been here 37, 26, 24, and 19 years. Good people rarely leave.
Can you handle a full-charge bookkeeper job with payroll? Do you produce reports accurately and quickly? I may have been spoiled by so many years of great work. Do you just make both columns match, or can you think: “I wonder why that looks like that? Let’s look closer”. We use Quickbooks for accounting and Payroll. Our POS system is Retail Pro, but two other people deal with that. Oh, and can you get along with our office doggie?
We pay pretty well (based on your experience), with sick/vacation/personal days, quarterly performance bonuses, non-smoking bonuses, and profit-sharing: even for part-time team members. Generally, about 20 hours a week seems to work for us.
