Symphony NH Opens 2016-17 Season with The Essential RING – Part II

NASHUA – Symphony NH opens its 2016-17 season October 2nd at 3:00 pm with The Essential RING – Part II and another cast of world-renowned Wagnerian soloists.  Part I premiered in April to high acclaim, described as “outstanding Wagner” by The Boston Globe.  Music Director Jonathan McPhee commented on April’s premiere saying, “Part I of The Essential RING brought one of the most enthusiastic Symphony NH audiences I saw all season.  The opportunity to experience the first two operas in Wagner’s Ring Cycle on our own Keefe Center for the Arts stage was truly amazing.”

Audiences for The Essential RING – Part II will not only experience the entire second half of Wagner’s Ring Cycle in a distilled three hour concert but also receive a true Wagnerian performance complete with a 100 piece orchestra and nine of today’s most prominent vocal soloists.  The soloists performing with Symphony NH on October 2nd include Margaret Jane Wray, a frequent of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and Frank Kelley, a versatile tenor performing everything from Madama Butterfly to world premieres of the latest opera compositions.

Join Music Director Jonathan McPhee and Symphony NH bassist Robert Hoffman on Thursday, September 29th at 5:30 at the Nashua Public Library for a free discussion about the October 2nd Essential RING concert.  McPhee and Hoffman will discuss how the adaptation reflects the original opera cycle using excerpts of the music to illuminate the discussion.

After the Essential RING – Part II on October 2nd, Symphony NH will host an Opening Night Reception at the Hunt Memorial Building at 6 Main Street.  Guests can celebrate Symphony NH’s opening night with Jonathan McPhee and the stellar soloists of the evening at a social reception with refreshments and hor d’oeuvres.

Tickets to the Essential RING – Part II are $20-$62 with student and senior discounts and free tickets for youth under 15.   The concert will take place on October 2nd at the Keefe Center for the Arts at 117 Elm Street at 3 pm.  Tickets for the Opening Night Reception are $25.  More information can be found at www.symphonynh.org or by calling (603) 595-9156.
