Rehearsals Ramp Up as Amherst PTA Play Nears
AMHERST – With the calendar now in the month of March, showtime for the Amherst PTA Play is right around the corner. The annual PTA fundraiser, presenting “Mulan Jr.” in 2019, takes the stage at Souhegan High School April 12-14 for a four-show run.
Tickets are now available for the show and can be purchased in several ways. Prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. They are available by visiting AmherstPTAMulanJr.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 617-938-9423. Tickets can be purchased in person at Moulton’s Market (checks only), Mother & Child, and Black Forest Café in Amherst. Additional purchases can also be made at Toadstool Bookshop in Milford.
The play features (back row, L to R) Keelin Llewellyn as Grandmother Fa; Grace St. Jean as Fa Li; and Hannah Shepard, Jenny Goddard, Sydney Mazur, and Kira Whitehead as Ancestors; (foreground, L to R) Evelyn Dowd as Fa Zhou; Hadley Harris as Mulan; and Taylor Ciotto as Mushu. “Our cast and crew has been hard at work since early January to put together a beautiful, entertaining show,” said Victoria Parisi, president of the Amherst PTA. “We are so grateful to the generous sponsors who stepped up to support the show over the last month, and we are eager to bring the production to the stage in April.”
A bevy of local businesses pledged their support to the show last month, including several new partners. The PTA would like to recognize Gold-level partner Bedford Fields, as well as Silver partners Amherst Orthodontics, Amherst Physical Therapy, Burke Advertising, Clark and Leighton, P.C., Just Cookies by Jenny, McGuigan Financial, and Swiss Knife Shop.
The PTA play is one of the Amherst PTA’s premier fundraising event, and sponsors help generate thousands of dollars for crucial curriculum enrichment programs and teacher grants for Amherst schools. In 2018, over $17,000 was raised by the PTA’s production of “The Little Mermaid.”
The Amherst PTA will present Disney’s “Mulan Jr.” for the 67th edition of the its annual theatrical fundraiser. Show dates are April 12-14, 2019 at Amherst’s Souhegan High School. Tickets for the family-friendly, all-volunteer production are now on sale. For additional information, visit www.AmherstNHPTA.org.
