“Mamma Mia!”, Onstage at SHS March 21 - 24
AMHERST - The Souhegan High School Drama Club invites you on an island getaway - get out your calendar, and circle March 21-24. These are the dates for the club’s performance of “Mamma Mia!” The beloved musical was newly released to high school and community groups, and our cast of 36 students from all grades intends to get you on your feet! Since its debut in 1999, over 60 million people have seen “Mamma Mia!”, securing its spot in the top 10 longest-running shows on Broadway and the West End. If you aren’t one of those millions, now is your chance!
This sunny, sassy and sentimental show is a joyful combination of beloved ABBA music and a storyline that explores the meaning of family, and the love between a mother and daughter.
The stage production differs slightly from the movie in that almost every song has harmony sung by the cast whether on stage or off. The result is a high-energy jukebox musical that races from song to song, barely leaving you time to catch your breath. Our talented cast and crew bring enthusiasm and experience to this show. The energy, the music, the dancing, the costumes, and the set - together these elements build a show they are all so very proud to perform. They invite you to leave the dark, cold winter behind and emerge into the sunny warmth of a Kalokairi island, alive with music, laughter and love.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and can be purchased by cash or check at The Homestead, Moulton’s (check only), The Black Forest and Souhegan High School. The Souhegan HS School Store also accepts credit cards. Tickets can be purchased at the door but with a show this popular you should get your tickets early! Performances are Thursday March 21st, Friday March 22nd and Saturday March 23rd at 7:00pm, with a 2:00pm matinee on Sunday March 24th. Concessions at all performances will be provided in partnership with the Souhegan High School PTSA and will support both the theatre program as well as Project Graduation. We hope to have you dancing and singing along with us at the end of the show! Thank you for supporting the arts at SHS.
