HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF AMHERST
Since its inception in 1957, the Historical Society of Amherst has promoted the study and recording of Amherst's rich history. It also provides and for the safekeeping of artifacts and old records. We encourage citizens to join the organization and participate in this endeavor.
The HSA maintains two museums in Amherst Village, the Wigwam and Chapel, that house relevant artifacts, records, paintings and more.
Through great efforts of members we've digitized nearly 1,000 old photographs, available through this website via this LINK. We help fund the Archive Room and microfilm collection located at the Amherst Town Library. Members researched and wrote Walking Tours of Amherst Village. This guide book includes 57 buildings and sites organized into four tours of the Amherst Village Historic District. The HSA is recipient of the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance's 2011 Preservation Achievement Award.
AMHERST GARDEN CLUB
The Amherst Garden Club provides education resources and networking opportunities for our members to promote the love of gardening, civic landscaping and environmental responsibility.
Members gather for informative programs, beautify many civic gardens in town, conduct an annual plant sale, provide flowers to a local soup kitchen, give scholarships and mission-related grants, and more. Anyone is invited to attend the clubs meetings held the first Thursday of the month. There are two meetings: the daytime meeting (9am-11:30am) is held at The Messiah Lutheran Church on Rte 101, Amherst and the evening meeting (7pm - 8:30pm) is held at the Community Room at Parkhurst Place, Veterans Road, Amherst. The meetings have different speakers and refreshments are always served. The club does not meet during the months of July and August as we are busy in our own gardens and the Civic Gardens.

FRIENDS OF THE AMHERST TOWN LIBRARY
The Friends of the Amherst Town Library are a group of over one hundred volunteers interested in supporting, promoting and enhancing the excellence of this local library. We help out in the areas of "it would be nice but…the money isn't in the budget," or "the staff is already stretched too thin."
