The Scott Mullett Quartet Comes to SHS for Jazz Night #2
AMHERST – The Souhegan High School Music Department will host its second Jazz Night of the year on Friday, February 10, 2016 at 7:00pm. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Jazz Night series of concerts hosted at SHS. To continue our 16th anniversary season, we are proud to welcome The Scott Mullett Quartet to SHS.
Scott Mullett is a New Hampshire native from Keene. He attended the Berklee College of Music where he studied with Joe Viola, John Laporta, Andy McGhee and played in the bands of Herb Pomeroy and Greg Hopkins. Scott has been employed by Carnival, Holland America Cruise Lines as well as Royal Caribbean where he was Music Director. He has had extensive touring and performing experience with Artie Shaw, The Tommy Dorsey Orch (Buddy Morrow), Woody Herman, Aretha Franklin, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Norah Jones, BB King, Stan Getz, Donna Summer and many others. He currently teaches at Keene State College, the Vermont Jazz Center, a private studio at Elm City Music as well as leading the Keene Jazz Orchestra (which will feature guest artist Gordon Goodwin this spring). In recent years he has performed with Sheila Jordan, Jerry Bergonzi, Steve Davis, Harold Mabern, Freddy Bryant and others. Scott is supported by great friends and Musicians Steve Cady (Bass), Russell Hoffmann (Piano) and George Robinson (Drums).
The Scott Mullet Quartet will be joined by jazz ensembles from Souhegan HS, Alvirne HS, Windham HS and Oxbridge Academy from West Palm Beach, Florida. General Admission at the door is $10.00.
