Egle Jarkova On Violin And Rui Urayama On Piano To Perform At Amherst Town Library
AMHERST - The Trustees of the Amherst Town Library welcome the public to this year’s Anna Boardman Concert Series event on Sunday, November 8th at 5:00 p.m. Egle Jarkova and Rui Urayama will present a program of music for violin and piano featuring works of Mozart, Dvorak, Bloch, Elgar, and Beethoven.
Lithuanian-born violinist Egle Jarkova is a top prize winner of several national and international competitions in Europe and the United States. She holds the Queen Morta Premium Laureate in Lithuania, and is the winner of the Boston Conservatory Chamber Music and String Department Competitions. Ms. Jarkova has performed widely in both Europe and America and in concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, Beethoven Hall, Mechanics Hall, Wiener Saal, Sala Tripkovich, and Teatro Arrivi. Recently, she debuted with the Albanian National TV and Radio Orchestra, playing the Brahms Violin Concerto.
Ms. Jarkova is a founder and the artistic director of the international summer music festival Vivace Vilnius in Lithuania since 2012. The festival offers intensive master classes for young professional musicians and presents free concerts performed by the faculty and guest artists. A graduate of the Boston Conservatory, she is now working towards her Masters Diploma at Boston University. She teaches violin and performs with a number of Boston area orchestras.
Rui Urayama is becoming internationally known as one of the famous young pianists of her generation. She is the Grand Prix Winner of the 2013 PTNA Piano Competition in Japan, recipient of the St. Botolph Club Emerging Artist Award, and has been a “Meiji Yasuda Cultural Association” sponsored artist. Ms. Urayama began piano at an early age. At 12 years, she won the Silver Medal in the Chopin Competition in Japan. She has performed with Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Perugia Music Festival Orchestra, Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tokyo New City Orchestra.
Born in Japan, Ms. Urayama moved to the USA in 2011 to study with pianist Michael Lewin at the Boston Conservatory, where she completed a Masters degree and is now pursuing an Artists Diploma. Since coming to Boston, she has won the Silver Medal in the Harford Chopin International Competition and won the Boston Conservatory Churchill Competition in 2012 and 2015.
Both Ms. Jarkova and Ms. Urayama are active chamber musicians and perform widely with the Jemur Piano Trio both in New England and in Europe.
The concert, sponsored by the Trustees of the Library, is free and open to the public. Tickets are required due to limited seating and are available at the circulation desk. All are welcome to stay after the concert to meet the musicians and for refreshments provided by the Trustees and the Friends of the Library.
