Dorothea Daniel is looking for volunteers to get involved in the Amherst Tree Lighting Festival, December 11, 12, 13.   Dorothea along with co-chair Michelle Arbogast are the organizers for the first time of this very special Holiday event.  Plans are well underway but your help is needed.  Contact Dorothea at dorothea_daniel@yahoo.com.

 

Food Glorious Food

Sharing our Piece of the Pie! The Black Forest Café of Amherst announces a Thanksgiving fundraiser for the New Hampshire Food Bank.   You can win your entire Thanksgiving food and bakery pre-order for free!  Place your holiday order and purchase a raffle ticket ($5) between 11/1-11/22.  The winning ticket will be drawn 11/23, and the winner will receive their entire Thanksgiving pre-order for free. 100% of ticket sales go to support the New Hampshire Food Bank.  Save your ticket stub.  If the goal of $1000 is met, all losing tickets may be redeemed in January for a free slice of pie.

 

Shades of Hope Gala

Amherst’s Kathy Earley will be a featured speaker at the Melanoma Foundation of New England's 6th Annual Shades of Hope Gala. Kathy is a melanoma survivor.

The gala will take place on Friday, November 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston featuring live and silent auctions , music by the Jeff Lowe Band and Emcee Phil Lipof, WCVB's Emmy-Award Winning Anchor. Funds raised support  foundation programs including  expansion of MFNE's sunscreen dispenser initiative (which provides free sunscreen dispensers in Boston's parks).

 

Joshua’s Park

Step Up and Make a Donation. The Grunbeck Family Foundation pledged $25,000 for Joshua’s Park, provided the public donates another $25,000 from now until the end of November.  The park, with a fundraising goal of $350,000, is slated to feature a new playground, community garden, and nature trail. It is to be sited on the south side of Amherst Village.  The 3.9-acre park property on Courthouse Road preserves existing farmland and wetland and features a 10-place parking lot, fruit trees, a garden shed, benches, and toilet facility.
